How Christ's Atonement Rights the Wrongs of an Unfair World and Imperfect People
DUE LATE SEPTEMBER
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is discussed in a multitude of ways in scripture: it is a cleansing, sanctifying, and healing act of His selfless love. Among those descriptions is an expression that defines the Atonement in terms of its compensating power, or the ability of the Savior to right the wrongs of life—but how exactly does this happen? In a world in which grief, unfairness, and imperfection are hallmarks, Christ’s ability to make recompense is the key to bridging our hopes and our sorrows. In The Compensating Power of Christ, discover how the Lord compensates in your own life as Brigham Young University scholar Dr. B.J. Allen shares insights from his lifelong quest to understand and harness the Savior’s compensating power.
B.J. Allen was raised in Centerville, Utah, received a B.S. from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. from University of Texas-San Antonio. As a professor at BYU, he loves researching and teaching complex topics, which has helped him win numerous teaching and research awards. He uses this same love to write about gospel subjects, helping readers see how they can apply complex gospel topics into their day-to-day life. Using his experiences working with young adults, missionaries, and those he has served in various Church leadership responsibilities, B.J.’s writings focus on how we can find peace in our weaknesses, answers to our complex questions, and a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Compensating Power of Christ delivers beautiful reminders and insights into the true nature of the Savior, what His sacrifice means to us personally, and how to feel that we are seen, loved, and understood. Reading the experiences and insights by author BJ Allen will bring comfort as we consider more deeply what makes up our personal relationships with the Savior, and how He is present in all aspects of our lives.
